I'm so excited, because yesterday my parents officially announced + launched their NEW BUSINESS!
P A P P Y & G A M M Y 'S
Quality Recrafted Wooden Kitchenware and Furniture.
My parents have always had a knack for finding treasures in old + forgotten things. They see beauty where others see nothing. They are the living, breathing version of this quote, "blessed are those who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing."
This is what their whole business is based off of - taking old, forgotten things and making them beautiful again.
My two nieces call my parents Pappy + Gammy, hence the name and if you could hear my sweet niece Addie say Pappy, you'd know just how stinking cute it is and why it was the PERFECT choice when it came to deciding on a name for the business.
I really have so many things to say, but most importantly I want to say that I am so proud of these two people who I get to call my mom & dad. They worked their entire life and it wasn't at jobs that they loved - they worked so hard to give us the best life they possibly could even when it meant sacrificing their dreams. Family was and is number 1 and if I've ever known two people that would do anything and everything just to make sure that others we're happy before themselves, it is my mom and dad.
To watch and witness them building this dream and doing something that they love is without a doubt a true joy & honor. My parents don't do anything half way and I can guarantee that any product you purchase from them will have been made with so much love and thought.
Watching my parents build this business got me thinking about dreams and how often we let our dreams fall to the wayside. Maybe it's because of time, money, age, courage, support or whatever it may be. It's typically a lot easier to say "I'll start working on my dream once I have so much money" or "I'll start working on my dream once all of my kids are in school" - this was my mindset 100% . . . mine is about money and how I'll start pursuing my dreams once I have a little bit of money saved up to put into it. But here's the thing that I have learned recently - there is no perfect time to start pursuing your dream. You just have to do it.
Perhaps one reason why my parents business is so special to me is the fact that they are living out this dream without hesitation - both of my parents are retired and could go on living without having to work, but they're choosing to pursue this business, because it is a dream.
All of this reminds me of one of my favorite quotes:
"All of our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them"
- Walt Disney, a true dreamer
Dreams aren't limited by age or money. My dad had a dream of going to college and you know what? He graduated last year with his Bachelors in International Business at 60 years old . . .
And today they are launching their brand new business, Pappy & Gammy's.
Like I said earlier - I am so proud.
Help me in supporting their new business by telling all of your friends, family and loved ones. Even buy a cutting board or two! And keep an eye out for new products, because I know that they've been working really hard on some fun new stuff.
You can shop their Etsy shop HERE and visit their Facebook page HERE.
. . . . . .
And speaking of dreams - I'm going to share two of my favorite books that have been so encouraging to me and have really pushed me to begin pursuing my dream.
Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff by Chip Gaines
You're Made a God Sized Dream by Holly Gerth
Both of these books have become fast favorites of mine and I KNOW that you will love them as much as I do - and if you ever need a friend to listen to you talk about your dreams, I'm here for you.
Dream BIG my friends.
