This past weekend was so much fun. We had Taylor's mom, two sisters and 3 nephews in town from Thursday to Sunday and we seriously had the best couple of days. We thought that it would just be Taylor's mom, Ga, coming down for the weekend, but she totally surprised us by bringing along his two sisters and our nephews, one of which was only 9 weeks old!
And then because one surprise wasn't enough, they surprised us again by telling us that we were headed up to Waco on Friday for Spring at the Silos and staying the night in one of the houses featured on Fixer Upper. How fun is that?
So on Friday we packed up our bags and headed on up to Waco, Texas!
Magnolia was busy, which we expected - their big spring event, Spring at the Silos, was happening and those sorts of events there are always busy, but they are so fun.
First thing we did when we got there was stroll through the vendor fair - the vendors this year were top notch - they had so many good little shops! I was particularly excited to look at Roolee & Gigi Pip, two of my favorites.
After strolling for a little bit we went onto the grounds and we split up - half of us stood in line for cupcakes and the other half stood in line for the sweet tea. Here's a word of advice for anyone going to Magnolia, get the sweet tea. Don't think twice about it, just do it. It's so yummy and you get to keep the super cute mason jar that it comes in - PLUS it's $2 refills. So I'll say it again, get the sweet tea.
We had our sweet tea and cupcakes in hand and Ga was in line at the the little Carmel Apple place . . . can you say sugar rush?
Meanwhile my nephew Parker was living his best life
I couldn't have a cupcake this time around, because I had to go gluten free (more on that later), but thankfully I've had my fair share of Magnolia cupcakes pre-gluten free life. From past experiences, I can say that they're as good as people say they are. If you're at Magnolia, get a cupcake. Simple as that.
Before Parker Tay could finish his cupcake, Ga was back with the most delicious looking caramel apple that I've ever seen. And guess who got the first bite?
Literally this kid was living his best life at Magnolia. And our other little man, Bentley, was busy taking a well earned nap.
After we had our several treats, we hung around at a table, listened to the live music and just relaxed for a little while.
Tay & his mama!
While we were hanging out, I pulled out my camera and snapped some pics of everybody. Love this crew so, so much.
Brittany & little baby Carson. The sweetest!
Parker Tay trying on Uncle Tay's sunglasses!
All the kisses for baby Carson!
Uncle Tay & Bentley looking as cute as ever!
After we finished all of our treats, we went back out to the vendor fair and did some more shopping.
And then more shopping!
Hi Brookie & Bentley!
After we finished our shopping, it was time for us to head over to our airbnb. But before we left, we snapped a quick pic in front of this cute mural!
When we got to the airbnb, we were in awe. It was so cute! Parker ran around the house yelling "this house is so amazing!!!" and I don't think I could have said it any better. Well said, Parker. Well said.
So cute, right? I wanted to move in & stay forever.
So after some well deserved pizza, wine and r&r, we called it a night. We all snuggled up on the couches and turned on some Fixer Upper. We love us some Chip & Jo!
On Saturday morning we woke up early with the intention of getting out the door and over to Magnolia when they opened, but that plan came and went pretty quickly. Oh well - I don't think any of us were bummed about having to hang in our airbnb for a couple more hours than planned.
While we were all getting ready, I took some pictures of the girls with their kiddos and they turned out soooo cute. I mean look at them.
I know I'm biased, but HOW CUTE ARE THEY?
Love all of them so much.
Bentley was busy playin outside while we were getting everything packed & ready to go. Also, his boots kill me. He wears them all the time. This kids loves his boots. He puts them on first thing in the morning and takes them off before he goes to bed.
While Bentley was playing outside, Carson was inside snuggling & napping with Uncle Tay! Be still my heart.
When we finally made it out the door we headed straight for Common Grounds, a local Waco coffee shop, and we got some much needed coffee.
With our coffee in hand, we were ready to take on the day - Magnolia, here we come!
We got to the Silos and went straight for the food. None of us had eaten breakfast, so we were all hungry. Brooke & I each got an Acai Bowl, and to be honest, it wasn't our favorite. I thought it was fine, but definitely not as good as other Acai Bowl's that I've had.
We found a spot on the lawn just as Dawson Hollow was coming on stage, so we sat there, listened to them play and ate our food. I'd never heard of Dawson Hollow before, but now I officially consider myself a fan. They were really good and they put on a great show - do yourself a favor and go get some of their music.
After we relaxed on the lawn for a bit we went and hit the vendor fair again. We hadn't bought much yet so this was our day to get all of our goodies!
I've been eying a hat from GIGI PIP for a while now so after visiting their tent 3+ times, my sweet mom-in-law bought it for me as an early birthday gift. Thanks Ga!
The other little thing I bought for myself was this super cute hair scarf. I actually bought two of them and I got them from Just Peachy, a little Etsy shop based out of Waco. I got the pink one you see here and I also got a floral print one. They're my new favorite hair accessory - so easy and so cute. I haven't attempted yet, but rumor has it that you can also tie it around your neck and it's real cute.
The last thing we bought was a personalized Xylo Bat - Neither Taylor or I had ever heard of this company before, but they make & sell custom wooden baseball bats. They have bats designed for professional use, but they also have bats you can buy as decoration - we picked one to use as decoration. You can engrave it with anything you'd like, but they had one on display that we both really liked so we asked if we could order one just like that and luckily they had a few already ready to sell, The engraving on our bat is one of my favorite verses, "Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established." - Proverbs 16:3
We can't wait to hang it up and display it somewhere in our home!
Our family all bought some stuff too - Brooke & Brittany both bought a stuffed animal for each of the boys, Brooke bought a cute crewneck sweater and Brittany bought a Magnolia hat. So many goodies!
After we finished shopping (for real this time), we walked over to a little outdoor market that was across from the Silos and wandered around there for a few minutes. And then it was lunch time and we went to Vitek's BBQ, because it's Ga's favorite and the girls had to get BBQ at least once while in Texas.
And then with full hearts, bellies and shopping bags we hopped in the car and went on our way back to Austin.
Magnolia, you were a treat.
